Bolt is a well-known fan of the Old Trafford outfit and has frequently spoken of his desire to pull on the red shirt of United in the past.
However, his comments, for the most part, have been brushed off as an act but on Monday the Olympic 100m champion renewed his appeals for United boss Ferguson to give him a chance, after being asked about his next challenge.
"People think I am joking. But if Alex Ferguson called me up and said, ‘OK let's do this, come and have a trial', it would be impossible for me to say No," Bolt told The Sun.
"I would not take up the challenge if I didn't think I was good enough. I am a very accomplished player and know I could make a difference."
The 6ft 5in Jamaican sprint king reaffirmed his status as the world's fastest man when he successfully defending his Olympic 100m title in stunning style in London on Sunday.
Bolt stormed to victory in 9.63 seconds, the second quickest in history and an Olympic record - only the 25-year-old himself has run quicker with his world record of 9.58secs set in winning the world title in Berlin in 2009.
"I am in Britain for a few more days. If Alex Ferguson wants to give me a call he knows where I am," he said.
Bolt and Ferguson have met before, after the Olympian participated in the Manchester street race which he won, setting the fastest ever time run over 150m.
