England have reached their highest ever FIFA ranking position - rising one place to third.
Roy Hodgson's side haven't kicked a ball since they last moved up two places to fourth following Euro 2012, but Uruguay have dropped out of the top three after they lost points due to the devaluation of matches from last year's Copa America.
According to FIFA, England are now the world's third best team, behind Germany and World and Euro 2012 champions Spain. And the Three Lions may have their penalty failure to thank for their rising ranking.
